Gymnastics
On 13 December, 1965, two Spanish records were broken in the National Athletics Meeting with Garriga reaching 2.05 metres in the high jump and Gándara 16.59 metres in the shot put.
In 1971, the Palacio de Deportes was the venue for the European Gymnastics Championships. In 1975, the finals of the VII World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships were held in which the Spanish team finished in third position and in 1978 the European Championships, where once again our team finished in third position.
The XIII European Championships were also held in 1981.
On 5 May, 1977, the Artistic Gymnastics Meeting between the Spanish and Rumanian selections saw the participation of the Rumanian gymnast, Nadia Comaneci, who had won three gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
On 1 November, 1988, the Gymnastics Exhibition “Stars of Seoul", was held. In September of 1992, the Madrid Paralympics of that year were organised and on 31 October, 1996 a gymnastics exhibition called "Atlanta Stars 1996" was newly organised with the participation of Jesús Carballo.
